Let’s Do It Canberra Campaign Succeeds

The Australia Baseball League run by Major League Baseball officially announced that Canberra has been granted the sixth team spot and will compete in next seasons competition.

Andrew Barr ACT Sports Minister announces bid success.

The bid which has been supported by  the ACT Baseball Association and the ACT Government will see the best baseball players from around the country and from the USA play in a competition that will see Canberra hosting four or five games each home round.

Theo Vassalakis the President of ACT Baseball Association says he hopes to see a surge of junior girls and boys participating in the sport following the interest Canberra’s involvement will create. This season saw over 200 new players register to play baseball in the ACT and an ABL competition is expected to boost those numbers and hopefully see schools participating in the sport.
