ABL Bid Update

To the ACT baseball community;

I’d firstly like to thank those of you in the baseball community who have risen to the challenge and pledged themselves, their family and their friends to support Canberra’s proposed ABL team.

At present the ‘Let’s do it Canberra’ bid has secured close to 3,000, $20 pledges. This is a fantastic effort, but we as a baseball community must not rest, there is so much riding on this bid that we must keep striving to reach the 5,000 pledge mark.

For those who aren’t aware, each club in our local competition has taken the opportunity to purchase 300 pledges each. These pledges can be purchased from the individual clubs with the $20 to be used against the purchase of a single match ticket, season ticket, series ticket or club membership upon the presentation of your receipt.

This means any pledge you purchase throughout the bid can be used to discount a match ticket, season ticket, series ticket or a team membership. The more pledges you purchase now, the less you will have to pay later.

Aside from being challenged to gain 5,000, $20 pledges, the ‘Let’s do it Canberra’ bid has also be given the task of securing $100,000 per annum in corporate sponsorship.

Whilst we have experienced reasonable amounts of success in this area so far, I urge everyone in our baseball community to keep their eyes and ears open for potential sponsorship opportunities.

If you know someone who may be able to sponsor our team, please see your club coordinator. Any amount great or small will be highly valuable, whether its $50,000 or $500 it all adds up.

Our own ‘Let’s do it Canberra’ bid only has two weeks left to run. We’ve come a long way since the announcement of the bid but we still have a long way to go. I know each and every one of you in our baseball community is excited by the thought of Canberra competing in the ABL, it is our job as a baseball community to show the ABL that we deserve a team.

Kind regards,

Theo Vassalakis
ACT Baseball Association Commissioner

Project - Vikings Cataloging It’s History

Tuggeranong Baseball Club has a thirty year history and the club is creating an online archive which will chronicle club history and profiles of people who have been involved with the club.

We are starting by inviting people who have been involved with the club to submit a profile of themselves along with details of their involvement.

We are also asking for photos to be submitted. We know there are hundreds, maybe thousands of photos of the Vikings and we really hope to have them archived.

If you are or were a player, coach, scorer, umpire, volunteer or just a loving mum or dad who came to watch your kids play baseball we would love you to submit your profile.

So we do encourage everyone to become involved in this important project.

It’s simple to participate, just Register and you are on your way.
