Four Vikings boys Jordan Arley, Caleb Albrecht, James Burdin and Chris Pallamountagne have just completed a Bronze medal performance representing the ACT Schooboy team in the 2009 National Schoolboys Baseball Tournament.

ACT finished 3rd to take the Bronze medal from a stong South Australian team 6-5.

It was a great week of baseball held at Narrabundah Ballpark with the ACT getting away to a flying start winning their first 3 games against Victoria, NSW and South Australia to ensure a finals spot.

The club is now seeking expressions of interest for ALL roles on the commitee for the 2009/10 season. All positions below are now vaccant.

ACT try-outs for Cal Ripken team

Where:               Narrabundah Baseball Centre

When:                 Next Monday May 11

From:                  5-30pm

Run by:              Brent Phelan (ACT Academy of Sport Head Coach)

Who should attend:

Any one aged 13 or 14 who is interested in representative baseball.

Players who wish to excel in the game and compete at the highest level.

What is the Cal Ripken:

The Cal Ripken World Series is the junior world series for players aged under 15.

Australia place a team into these championships each year, which is held in the USA.

The ABF select a team from nominated players from each State or Territory.

In 2008, only players from NSW & Victoria made the squad. However, this year it is hoped that other states including the ACT may provide the necessary talent to put forward a competitive line-up.

So we can find out whether or not this can be achieved your players are invited to attend the ACT try-outs next Monday.

Please note:

This will be the only try-out for this event, so please encourage any of your eligble juniors, particularly those with promise and aspirations to attend.

There will be no rainchecks for those unable to attend next Monday as ABF nominations close virtually straight after.
