U13 Vikings Red Make Finals
The U13 Red team made the playoffs as the number 4-seed and will take on the Bandits Blue in a rematch of last weeks game where we went down 18-6. I’m confident the team can be competitive against the Bandits. We’ll work on defense in training this week as there were some costly fielding errors in the last game. Congratulations to both U13 Vikings teams who both had excellent seasons. Both sides improved and developed throughout the season. Come on out to Aranda to cheer on the U13 sides on Saturday beginning at 9:00 am. Let’s hope for an all Vikings grand-final!
U13 Grey storm into Semi finals
The U13 grey team have stormed into the div2 finals with an outstanding month of baseball winning three, one draw and one loss. After losing the first game of the divisional stage to a very good bandits team they bounced back with a draw against Vikings red and three succesive wins to take second place in the division of six teams. The kids have been outstanding over the last four weeks but still coach Jenkins believes his troops can play alot better. ” The talent is certainly there amongst all the kids, I just need them to start believing in themselves alittle more because I certainly do! ” They Grey team will now play off for a spot in the championship game against another bandits team which fell victim to the rampant grey’s earlier in the month. “We have been blessed with some very good prospects for the future, all the kids one through to nine are improving rapidly and the clubs junior stocks are certainly looking healthy” said coach Jenkins.
U13 Vikings Red Game Summary
James Cappello started the game at pitcher for the Red team and struggled with the strike zone in the 1st inning walking several batters. Jack Brinkley came in relief and pitched an inning and a third, while Kotaro Horiuchi pitched the final 2 innings.
The Red team trailed the entire game, but didn’t give up. After 4 innings the score was Grey 10 - Red 8. In the top of the 5th, the Grey team chased home 5 more runs. But in the bottom half of the inning, the Vikings Red scored 7 runs of their own: Final score 15-15.
Special thanks goes to Thomas Phelps (U10) who stepped up with 4 hits for the Vikings Red team, stole some bases, and made some plays in the field. Well done Thomas!
Well done U13 Vikings!
